Quantification of Cycling Smoothness in Children with Cerebral Palsy

چکیده
Smoothness is a hallmark of skilled, coordinated movement, however, mathematically quantifying movement smoothness nuanced. Several metrics exist, each having its own limitations and may be specific to particular motion such as upper limb reaching. To date, there no consensus on which metric the most appropriate for assessing cycling in children with cerebral palsy (CP). We evaluated ability four preexisting metrics, dimensionless jerk, spectral arc length measure, roughness index, cross-correlation; two new root mean square error, quantify dataset from CP (mean age 13.7 ± 2.6 years). First, measure repeatability distinguishing between different levels un-smoothness, we applied set simulated crank signals known number aberrant revolutions using subjects’ actual angle data. Second, used discriminant function analysis statistically compare strength six relative other, discriminate smooth obtained typically developed (TD), control group 14.9 1.4 years), less smooth, halted CP. Our results show that (1) ArcL showed highest accurately an unsmooth when same were presented order, (2) DJ had discriminatory differentiate motion. Combining analysis, was repeatable sensitive identifying unsmooth, can hence future studies changes pre- vs. post-interventions. Further, this serve tool track motor recovery not just individuals but other patient populations similar neurological deficits present halted,

Hypertonicity in Children with Cerebral Palsy: A New Perspective
Objectives: Hypertonicity is a major problem in children with cerebral palsy that has not been explained effectively to address clinical decision making. Therefore, this article aims to provide a theoretical framework about hypertonicity for clinicians, rehabilitation and medical practitioners to be used in their practice. Methods: Literature was reviewed to examine the new perspectives towa...
متن کاملExploring the Process of Mothering Co-occupations in Caring of Children with Cerebral Palsy at Home
Background Mothering co-occupations in caring for children with cerebral palsy (CP) are very challenging for mothers but play an important role in the daily life of children with CP.This study aimed to explore the mothering co-occupations process in caring for children with CP at home in an Iranian context. Materials and Methods A grounded theory approach was recruited using semi-structured i...
متن کاملDynamic Balance During Gait in Children With Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy Versus Normal Children
Purpose: Cerebral Palsy (CP) can negatively affect dynamic stability in children with spastic diplegic Cerebral Palsy during walking. This condition results in a high risk of falling. There is limited evidence regarding the dynamic stability of children with Cerebral Palsy. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the dynamic stability of children with spastic diplegic Cerebral Palsy, compared to ...
متن کاملEffect of Child Factors on Parental Attitude towards Children and Adolescents with Cerebral Palsy in Iran
Objectives: To determine the role of child factors in the prediction of parental attitudes towards children and adolescents with CP in Iran. Methods: A cross-sectional study design was used. One hundred fifty-two children and adolescents with CP aged 7-17 years (mean = 10.93, SD = 3.46) with a mother aged at least 25 years were selected using systematic random sampling. The Mother-Child Relati...
